This 4 day intensive is designed to build the dancer’s body awareness, endurance, and hone execution of kathak chakkars and footwork within the structure of a tukda. The focus will be on using variations of the body that can show both the versatility of kathak and challenge the dancer in new and unique ways.

Prashant Shah, one of the senior disciple of Padma Bhushan Smt. Kumudini Lakhia, is one of few critically acclaimed male performer-choreographers now based in New York. The first recipient (for Kathak dance) of Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Yuva Puraskar award established by the President of India in the name of legendary musician, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Prashant has performed in over forty countries as a leading member of Kadamb’s prestigious performing unit as well as a soloist too. Prashant has been working at the prestigious ARYA DANCE ACADEMY in the USA as the head of the Kathak department for over more than a decade. Prashant is a TOP grade artiste at ‘Doordarshan Kendra’ and an empaneled artiste in the established category of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.
